This fall, I found a new love for horseback riding in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Although I'd been riding six times before, I discovered a new meaning to the word Zen while at Rocking Horse Ranch Resort. This was a completely unique experience unlike any other ride I've had.
Rocking Horse Ranch is an all-inclusive family resort with loads of amazing activities for the entire family to enjoy, with unlimited horseback riding as their forte. Their wranglers are experts, and between this and all of the other all-inclusive activities, the kids were entertained for the entire day. Not to mention, with four kids, I have found that this is typically an impossible feat to accomplish! Our all-inclusive itinerary consisted of Super Bungee Jumping, Rock Wall Climbing, Mountain Tubing, Mini Bowling, Paddle Boating and Kayaking across a private lake surrounded by fall foliage, Family Bingo, hours at the Big Splash Indoor Waterpark, Halloween Trick-or-Treating, Fall Fest (complete with delicious local wines for the adults to enjoy) leisurely strolls across the Award Winning Gardens, and of course, picturesque Horseback Riding through hundreds of acres of woods right on the property. Q. Is it safe?
A. Always; we inspect our attraction daily, from the very top of the big hill all the way to the bottom of the slopes. Prior to opening each day, we test the system to determine risk factors such as speed, weight of riders, weather, etc. Our staff are also tested and trained on our safety procedures at the time they are hired, as well as throughout the year.

A. Guests can go as fast as 16 feet per second.

A. Mountain Tubing has been popular in the Northeast for years, but Steve Turk's vision to create the Longest Mountain Tubing Adventure was finally completed last summer. It's been a huge hit for guests of all ages!

Q. How can one have a career riding or taking care of horses?
A. There are a number of careers that revolve around caring for horses, including a Large Animal Veterinarian, Ferrier, Barn Manager, Trainer, Jockey, or Trail Guide, just to name a few.
Q. What type of riding can someone try at the Ranch?
A. We offer three levels of trail riding at Rocking Horse to accommodate all types of riders: beginner, which is strictly a walk, intermediate, which is a walk and trot, and advanced, which includes a walk, trot, and canter. Our experienced and knowledgeable wranglers guide every single trail ride.
